About
MyBusinessTips.co.uk is a free blog about better ways to run yourself and your business by learning from (and laughing at, mostly…) other businesses and by applying a touch of common sense.

My Business Tips: a professional looking picture that conveys Planning and Efficiency but fails to indicate how entertaining this blog actually is...
My goal is to:
- Amuse you by pointing out other companies marketing blunders
- Amuse you again with my tales and hard-learned business lessons
- Inspire you in some way to make more money by selling better (and sometimes selling less)
- Make you feel guilty enough that you start to get more done in less time by working smarter (and not harder)
- Save you wasting time and money by sharing my hard-learned and often costly experiences
- Save you more cash hopefully by pointing out other companies’ costly mistakes
- Kick you into beating your competition with better marketing and tactics
- Keep you informed about anything that can help you and your business
- Did I mention laughing at other people’s mistakes? Well, how else are we going to learn!
About me and how my tips can help you work smarter

This is me not doing any work. London, one sunny Thursday in Aug 09
My name is Jose Gonzalez and first and foremost I want to thank you for your interest in my blog.
3 years ago I left the company I helped co-found to run my own business (by myself). Today I am lucky enough to work the hours that I choose and take as much time as I want to enjoy life.
I decided to create this blog in order to share the many things I’ve learned so far – and continue to learn – to help others like you work smarter, sell better and end up with more time on their hands – time to invest back in themselves.
I will be publishing content to this blog regularly: tips, insights and anything that will help you become a better salesperson, manage your time more efficiently, achieve more with less effort, market yourself better and generally run your business in a more productive way.
I’ve made every mistake in the book, and I’ve wasted time and money like it was going out of fashion… but I learned a lesson each time I messed up. My own experiences have taught me to look out for – and spot – bad decisions. These do’s and dont’s will be making up much of the content in this blog.
Additionally, I will be reviewing anything that can help you (and me, of course) when it comes to running your business: anything from software to productivity tools.
I will also be posting any news that can benefit you: if something is free, then I’ll be posting about it; if something is cheap, then I’ll be posting about it; if something is useful, then I’ll be posting about it. Things like how to get free business banking for life (only 1 bank in the UK offers this at the moment); how to get from Manchester to London for £1 by Virgin Trains (this is not advertised on their website, funnily enough…) and much more along these lines.
To get all this information, all you need to do is subscribe here to start getting your free tips.
Lastly, just so you know:
- I left school with no qualifications (I could barely speak English at age 14)
- My parents weren’t educated and nobody in my family had any business experience, any success of any kind or any property or assets
- I worked in McDonald’s for 1 shift, a frozen food place for 2 days and an abbattoir for 2 days
- I worked various manual labour jobs in warehouses for a few years, a night-shift for 3 months and as a kitchen porter (cleaning dishes) in both a hotel and again at a restaurant
- I saw my first computer when I was 25
I could go on, but my point is this: you don’t need any special qualifications to work smarter.
All you need is packaged experience and a pair of eyes.
Let me be both of these things for you and deliver valuable content to add to your own thoughts and experiences so that you can become more efficient and achieve your business goals faster.
To Your Success
Jose Gonzalez
